Hi, I'm Walker Gosrich.

  • Ph.D. Candidate in MechE at Penn
  • NSF Fellow and Goldwater Scholar
  • Interested in robotics and science & technology policy

I am a Ph.D. student under Dr. Mark Yim at UPenn, working in the ModLab. I have experience with mobile robotics, grasping, soft robots, and dynamics and control systems. My previous work was with the Napp group at SUNY Buffalo, focusing on distributed autonomous construction using amorphous materials. You can see more of my current and past work here.

Leadership

  • Music Director of The Enchords, UB's only Co-Ed a cappella group [Dec. 2016 - present]
  • I direct all rehearsals, organize and program concerts, and run workshops in schools across New York.

  • President and Founder of UB's Pi Tau Sigma, Mechanical Engineering Honors Society [Apr. 2015 - present]
  • I run officer and student body meetings, invite guest speakers, and organize tours of local industries.

  • FAFSA Completion Intern in the Buffalo Public Schools [Aug. 2017 - present]
  • I work in Buffalo Public Schools to increase completion of the FAFSA, allowing students to afford college. So far, the project has increased FAFSA completion by 60% in Buffalo.

  • Hutchinson Technical High School Volunteering Coordinator [Sep. 2015 - May 2017]
  • I coordinated a partnership between Hutch Tech and the UB Honors College. We brought students to UB to learn about college and how to get there, and we regularly tutored high-needs and refugee students at Hutch Tech.

  • Volunteer in BPS #31 [Jan. 2015 - May 2015]
  • I volunteered in a high-needs middle school to foster a Science Olympiad program and to tutor students one-on-one.
